MY INTRODUCTION TO SLAVERY We don’t have the same limitations as other people of different tribes do. I am a free woman, or shall I say I was a free woman. I am the wife of our tribes chief –Jankay Boto, that’s where I got my surname, Boto. Before my marriage I was a Touray. My father, or Paupa, was the chief of the tribe Adance. The two tribes, Adance and Denkyira, my husband’s tribe, are in the same village, Juffure. The two tribes have been friends for as long as anyone can remember, I mean they have been friends for since like ever. That’s how I got married into this tribe. As these tribes are very close to each other I can visit my Paupa’s house whenever I want. I, being the daughter of the tribes chief, was allowed to study but up till a certain age and when that age I came I wasn’t willing to stop my studies but my father and my brother wanted me to leave school and help my mom in the rice plantations. However this didn’t satisfy me, so I oppose th is idea up till my male relatives agreed on me having further studies and I did succeed, thanks to my mom. Now I teach to small children in my tribe and they are quite happy with me. My students include my 2 children, Brima and Saloum. I do more of religion there, I teach my students about Islam –my religion. My name is Yaisa Boto, and now you will learn about my life in detail. I had a very respected position in my tribe. People came up to me for consultancy because of my high experience of life. Apart from teaching I also did some house works with my slaves. I did not want to lay a heavy burden on their shoulders, I believed in justice not injustice. My husband and I had a couple of fights involving the slaves; he disagreed on the fact that I had to work with them but I ignored him. I did not want the slaves to do a lot of work. They just cleaned the house prepared the meal and did other such things. My slaves were not treated as slave; they lived in a comfy condition, they were never mistreated. I never saw them as slaves. The only two things that gave them this name, slave, were that they weren’t paid and they didn’t have the right to own property.

Healthy Grief Have people only been able to progress through the stages of grief since 1969 when Dr. Elisabeth Kubler-Ross put a name to the model of processing grief or have people been doing it since the beginning of time? As this paper progresses I will introduce you to a Bible story of a man who was made to suffer incredible losses in his life and how he progressed through what we know today as The 5 Stages of Grief. Job, a faithful follower of God suffered the loss of his wealth to marauding bandits. In addition he suffered catastrophic demise of prosperity his seven sons and three daughters when the house in which they were feasting was made to collapse killing all of Job’s children. This theory is very sequential and linear where one stage neatly transitions into the next stage so that in healthy grief a person should move from shock and denial to acceptance within a set timeframe. Grief however is not always so sequential and linear. Those who grieve can move back and forth through the stages of the grief process. From my personal experience, I understand why the final stage is important and essential. From the moment my loved one was buried, I had a hard time going to the grave, I refused because I did not want to face reality. There are many diseases all around the world that affect our loved ones. One in particular that is common among many hospitals is Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, also known as ARDS. Originally it was called Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome but realized that was not accurate because it not only affects adults but children also. ARDS is defined as the acute onset of respiratory failure, bilateral infiltrates on chest radiograph, hypoxemia as defined by a PaO2/FiO2 ratio ≠¤200 mmHg, and no evidence of left atrial hypertension or a pulmonary capillary pressure (Fanelli et al., 2013) It can also include cyanosis, tachypnea, dyspnea, reduced respiratory compliance and an arterial blood gas showing respiratory alkalosis with evidence of hypoxemia. Out of the many pulmonary disorders out there, ARDS is one of the most difficult diseases to manage and has a high mortality rate that comes with it. For this condition to occur, many things have to take place in the body. First the pulmonary capillaries and alveoli epithelial tissues become inflamed. This results in absorbency of these layers of tissues which then leads to plasma, which is abundant in protein, to escape out of the capillaries and into the alveolar space. After the trauma to the alveolar lining occurs, this allows fluid into the alveoli, which then results in pulmonary edema. I feel more relaxed around the people whose taste in music is similar to my own. Modern Pop music, however, is not for me. I find it lacks melody and rhythm and is very repetitive. I cannot stand it when the voice of the singer is pitched or deepened artificially to work better with the music, which itself is mainly computerized. This way, when the songs is finished and edited, the singers voice (mostly) is used merely as a template to build up on and add effects to and comes out sounding almost nothing like the singers original voice (when eared live). At least a singer in Metal would change the tone of their voice naturally, and to do so they require lots of practice and talent. Also admire the lyrics that go with metal music. Mostly, the lyrics used in Metal or Heavy Metal songs have a deep meaning or many meanings that would usually tell about past experiences of the lyricist and how they deal with that experience on an emotional level. I agree that some Pop artists such as Bribery Spears (who are really just given the lyrics to sing, and have their voices completely edited once the song is recorded) are a bit over the top and dumb, but even then they manage to deliver catchy tunes.There exists, however, a few Pop artists who produce truly beautiful high quality music, without the need of computerized editing or auto-tune as they call it. One such artist would, for example, is Adele. She truly puts her soul and emotion into the lyrics she writes. These lyrics also have a deep meaning and reflect on the lyricist past experiences, without the need of being cryptic. While producing songs with a catchy melody, some of her songs truly deserve to be amongst the endless classics Of the asss and asss, which are still being played daily by many successful Radio Stations.
